Outing with buddy - a visit to novena church

As my buddy is a very religious person and she likes to learn more about the different religions so she chose to visit the newly renovated novena church.

We attended their mass at 5.30pm. As i used to study bible knowledge during my secondary school days so i know a little about the bible. The few key words that were shared during the mass were grace of god, forgiving others, peace, harmony and mercy. The mass was from 5.30pm to 6.30pm, there was singing of hymns and saying of prayers during the mass. At the end of the mass, announcements of various activities were made.

After the mass, we had a brief walk around the church and took many photos. After that, we went to novena square which is nearby to have our dinner, we had our dinner at tuk tuk cha.

I ordered chicken slices and chicken balls soup with rice that comes with ice milk tea @ S$10.30 while jose had green curry noodles.

After our dinner, we went daiso, i bought a hair band, a glass cup, a plastic pail and a cloth mat.

The dinner was satisfying and the shopping was therapeutic, it was a wonderful outing with my buddy.

My vegetarian meals

Saturday was cho yat 初一 so i had vegetarian food. I ordered vegetarian mutton soup @S$4.80 with white rice @S$0.70.

The mutton soup was very tasty and flavourful and i like it. Not sure what spices they used to make it so nice. The "mutton" was made of mushroom, very tasty too, overall it was a satisfying meal.

In the evening, i had mee rebus as it does not contain meat so it is considered vegetarian to me. I had this at 1983 Cafe Nanyang @ Changi Airport Terminal 2, there I saw got Nasi Kerabu, next time maybe I will try.

Date with my buddy

I called my Buddy Jose and suggested 5 ways for our "date":

(1) Go East Coast Park to "watch" the sea and enjoy the scenery. We can read a book or listen to music by the beach

(2) Go Singapore Art Gallery for art exhibition, it is opened daily until 7pm

(3) Go Expo Singapore to attend the Food and Beverage Fair

(4) Go Novena Church which was renovated recently to look at their renovated church building and attend a Sermon to have a feel

(5) Movie date

Guess which one my Buddy choose?

Stay tune and I will update with photos of our outing, in the meanwhile have a good weekend everyone!

Lobsters liberation activity 龙虾放生活动

Today is the second time i joined the life liberation activity. At 2.30pm we boarded the ferry. I understand the lobsters and fishes we liberate are "hijacked" or bought while they are on the way to seafood restaurant from malaysia or either they are bought from the Wholesale Centre. I also understand from the staff that they will put oxygen tank and salt in the water tanks to ensure that the lobsters are well alive.

Before we reached the spot for liberation, as usual we chanted the mantra. After that we take turns to liberate the lobsters, i have a little phobia of shell animals like lobsters so the staff rendered some help to me in liberating.

After the liberation, refreshments were given out. Before end of the trip, we transfer the merits to all the sentient beings by chanting.

The ferry returned to the pier at around 4.20pm and that ends our activity.

Sharing a light hearted song - Please Mr Postman by Carpenters

I love the Carpenters! This is one light hearted song of Carpenters which I like. Just sharing.

In these days when mails and messages are sent electronically via SMS and Whatsapp, the role of Mr Postman is no longer as important as those days, oh how I miss those good old days.

Have a good week ahead, everyone!

Have you heard of this song before?

These are the lyrics.

"Please Mr. Postman"

Oh yes, wait a minute Mister Postman
Wait Mister Postman

Please Mister Postman, look and see
(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)
Why's it takin' such a long time
(Oh yeah)
For me to hear from that boy of mine

There must be some word today
From my boyfriend so far away
Please Mister Postman, look and see
If there's a letter, a letter for me

I've been standin' here waitin' Mister Postman

So patiently
For just a card, or just a letter
Sayin' he's returnin' home to me

(Mister Postman)
Mister Postman, look and see
(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)
Why's it takin' such a long time
(Oh yeah)
For me to hear from that boy of mine

So many days you passed me by
See the tears standin' in my eyes
You didn't stop to make me feel better
By leavin' me a card or a letter

(Mister Postman)
Mister Postman, look and see

(Oh yeah)
If there's a letter in your bag for me
(Please, Please Mister Postman)
Why's it takin' such a long time

(Why don't you check it and see one more time for me, you gotta)
Wait a minute
Wait a minute
Wait a minute
Wait a minute
(Mister Postman)
Mister Postman, look and see

(C'mon deliver the letter, the sooner the better)
Mister Postman

A visit to guan yin shan temple

Today @2pm i met up with my buddy jose to pay a visit to guan yin shan temple to make our offerings. Before that we went to ntuc supermarket to purchase our offerings of rice, vegetable oil and sugar etc. I bought 5kg of Song He Fragrance rice, a bottle of New Moon premium vegetable oil and a packet of SIS fine sugar whereas jose bought 10kg of Royal Umbrella rice, oil, sugar and 3-in-1 coffee. After that we trolleyed our puchases to the taxi stand and hailed a taxi to dunearn road.

We had a chance to chat with the Shi Fu for a short while and we stayed at the temple until 5pm, after that we took bus 170 to bugis and had our dinner there. As we do not have anything to buy after that so we headed home.

Mission accomplished *grin*

Here are some photos of the temple to share.
